Ruth Langsford candidly opened up about her marriage with Eamonn Holmes just before the couple announced their divorce.

Representatives for Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes released a statement on Saturday confirming the end of the TV duo's marriage. A spokesperson told The Sun on Sunday: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

Speculation had been rife among observant followers who noted the pair hadn't appeared together publicly for several months. The rumour mill went into overdrive when Eamonn posted an Instagram photo getting close to former Page 3 icon Linda Lusardi, prompting his followers to query, "Where is Ruth? ".

In an interview with Women's Weekly, Ruth acknowledged the 'testing time' she was experiencing with Eamonn.

Discussing Eamonn's debilitating back pain, which has plagued him for two years despite surgeries and daily physiotherapy sessions, Ruth expressed her concerns: "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope."

She poignantly added: "He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy."

"It's testing but we manage as a family."

Speaking to Woman's Weekly about the significance of maintaining good health, especially as one ages, she remarked: "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is."

An insider close to 64 year old Eamonn confided to the Mirror: "Eamonn has been using walking aids for around 18 months now so not much has changed unfortunately. He is doing everything he can but the lack of progress from the physio has obviously been a bit frustrating. But he continues to have physio sessions pretty much every day and continues to work hard in his rehabilitation."

In January, the broadcaster acknowledged the "harsh reality" that he may never walk unassisted again.

Ruth and Eamonn's romance began in 1997 after being set up by friends, leading to a long courtship before Eamonn proposed, culminating in their wedding in 2010.

When quizzed about what keeps their relationship strong, Ruth shared: "I think always respect, mutual respect. And we laugh a lot," adding that their connection is very important to them.
