Corrie's Michael Condron's surprising career move as Griff Reynolds returns (2024)

Before Michael Condron portrayed returning antagonist Griff Reynolds on Coronation Street, he moonlighted as a delivery driver and starred in two seasons of Game of Thrones. The actor’s credits also include The Tudors and BBC Northern Ireland series Fairy Tales.

On Friday (May 24) far-right extremist Griff makes his explosive return to the ITV soap. When the builder is transferred back to Weatherfield Prison, he is determined to make Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson) confess to the murder of Lauren Bolton.

After luring Roy to the library, Griff holds him at knifepoint and demands to know how and why he committed the act. The violent return of Griff marks Michael’s first appearance on the show since February 2023.

Ahead of stepping out as the character for the first time in August 2022, the Belfast-raised star worked as a delivery driver for ASDA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking to Daily Mirror about his rewarding work, the actor said “Every single person has a role to play in these times.

"People now should really appreciate the hard work that everybody does I think people who work in supermarkets have often been taken for granted. I came down, got a job and I absolutely love it."

At the time, he added that many customers recognised him for his role in Game of Thrones.

Between 2015 and 2016, Michael portrayed Bowen Marsh - the prestigious First Steward at Castle Black.

The star debuted in season five of the HBO show in an episode titled ‘The Wars To Come’ before meeting his grisly end in season six’s ‘Oathbreaker’.

The GOT actor claimed that during his delivery runs, customers would come up to him and ask: "Aren't you that guy off the telly?"

Belfast Shore Road store manager Kate added: "It's nice to have a local celebrity working with us.

“Michael's a very humble and modest man and hasn't said anything to his customers but he has been recognised – although he does look different!"

Elsewhere, he played Ben McGregor in the TV comedy series Soft Border Patrol and made a cameo as a Sailor in season one of The Tudors.
